Not everything is sacrificed for tourism in Bali. Anne Gabriel-Jürgens visited algae farmers, cocoa producers and salt farmers.

Only a few Balinese people are still active in agriculture. Since tourism became more dominant on the island, more and more people are devoting themselves to activities in this sector. The small businesses that do not concentrate on tourists benefit from the international demand for organic products from sustainable cultivation.
