Alois Bischof about Roland Schmid

When a photographer is about to hit 50, the good eye is supported by a vast visuell experience.

Yes, he has the eye, to be correct two of them; and yes he knows how to work a camera; and yes he is not much for philosophical discussions about photography.

He makes images that capture moments of reality and tell stories. Images that document. This is not snapshot, spur-of-the-moment photography. Roland Schmid stays with his stories, observes them over time.

Talking about his photography, one probably has to talk about his body. It looks a bit like that of a bear. Two sturdy legs, that are solidly rooted and can yet can move lightly with curiosity. Constantly they are on the move around the world. Two legs that tell of traveling around and curious eyes that capture and ultimately share what he observes.
